Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.

  • For those desiring to have their child baptized at Canadian Martyrs or Saint Thomas Aquinas please call 423-3057 or e-mail the office.
  • The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated each month following Sunday Mass.

For adults seeking baptism, please contact the office about how to enter the RCIA programme to prepare for your baptism.

Questions

Who can be baptized?
Any Catholic child whose parents promise to raise the child in the faith, or any adult after completing the RCIA programme in prepartion.

 

When are people baptized?
The Sacrament of Baptism for infants is celebrated each month following Sunday Mass. Adults are typically baptized at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday.

 

Where can I learn more about Baptism?
A course called Catholicism 201. This course teaches more about the sacraments and more about Catholic life in general.
